At the Hotel
The first Europe-based hospitality concept for American hotelier Michael Achenbaum, The Curtain was understandably one of the capital’s most anticipated openings of 2017. Comprising 120 guest rooms and suites, the accommodations sit alongside multiple dining destinations, an abundance of event spaces, state-of-the-art gym, wellness centre, rooftop pool, and members club. Inspired by the creative soul of the emerging neighbourhood and completely transcending the expectations of a hotel stay, The Curtain has it all.
Food & Drink
Soul food meets London at the destination’s flagship restaurant/live music venue, Red Rooster Shoreditch. Straight from the streets of Harlem, restaurateur and chef Marcus Samuelsson has added a contemporary touch to the best of the American south’s comfort food. Adjacent is Tienda Roosteria, a laid-back taqueria dishing out the best tacos, guac, and tequila to the tune of old school R&B and hip hop. The rooftop brasserie, LIDO, complete with a retractable glass roof and Moroccan-inspired pool, offers year-round Mediterranean dining with unrivalled vistas of the city.
Rooms
The Curtain’s four accommodation categories—The Curtain Suite, Shoreditch Suite, Junior Suites, and City & Courtyard Rooms—reinterpret the warehouse era and creative spirit of Shoreditch; expect rustic-industrial style interiors, exposed brick, hardwood floors and warehouse windows. All rooms and suites feature marble bathrooms, plush king-size beds, a curated minibar, and walls adorned with a quirky selection of posters, sketches, and photographs. Larger suites feature a separate living area and freestanding baths, while the biggest, The Curtain Suite, includes a spacious kitchen.
Location
The Curtain is located at 45 Curtain Road, at the heart of East London’s Shoreditch. The emerging area is renowned for its creative flair has endless dining destinations, and quirky shops right at its doorstep. Head to Spitalfields and peruse the markets, wander the boutiques of Brick Lane or every Sunday, a nearby street comes awash with colour at the famous Columbia Road Flavour Market. London City Airport is closest at a 30-minute drive; London Heathrow is approximately 1-hour by car. Alternatively, Liverpool Street Station is approximately 10 minutes by foot.
