Dating back to 1870, The Chanler’s original function was a summertime retreat for New York Congressman John Winthrop Chanler. The Spiced Pear, the most high-end of the onsite restaurants, promises uninterrupted ocean vistas and a menu of sustainably-sourced local ingredients that draws on both French techniques and New England style. The oceanside and al fresco Cliff Walk Terrace is a more convivial setting for enjoying light dishes over breakfast, lunch and dinner, while The Veranda is quintessentially Newport serving the same Cliff Walk Terrace menu at breakfast and lunch, and The Spiced Pear at night. Rooms
No two of the 20 guestrooms are the same; entirely unique, each is individually decorated to reflect past European styles gone by – think ostentatious interiors adorned with plush furnishings, elegant upholstery, marbled fireplaces, and one-off antiques.
