Well-versed in the world of adventuring, the team at Total Management Travel are never short of inspiration on where to go, when and why. In light of the new year, we asked some of them to share their top bucket list destinations for 2019.

Jerusalem, Israel

Laila Forrester: Travel Manager

One of the oldest cities in the world, Jerusalem promises a trip of a lifetime. Located between the Mediterranean and Dead Sea, the history-rich city is a smorgasbord of cultures, religions, traditions and heritage, captivating everyone that gets the chance to visit. For layer upon layer of history begin a trip by exploring the Old City; comprising four quarters, the 0.9 square kilometer walled area is divided into the Christian Quarter, Jewish Quarter, Muslim Quarter and Armenian Quarter. Highlights include the Western Wall or ‘Wailing Wall’, Dome of the Rock and Temple Mount. Outside of the Old City is the Mount of Olives, a mountain ridge with biblical roots and stunning views; Machne Yuhuda, a bustling middle eastern bazaar full of local delicacies and hidden restaurants; and of course the Ramparts Walk, a walking route along the walls that encompass the Old City, offering a elevated view of old and new Jerusalem.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Kyale Braithwaite: Travel Manager

Argentina is a massive South American nation awash with natural wonders and energetic cities, but few destinations compare to the eclectic metropolis that is Buenos Aires. At the top of Kyale’s 2019 travel wish list the energetic capital is an easy non-stop route from the UK and is one of the world’s must-visit Latin American cities. Head to the colourful neighbourhood of La Boca for live street performances, art and design. The city’s largest neighbourhood, Palermo, is perfect for those on the hunt for foodie hotspots, stylish boutiques, bars, nightclubs, museums, galleries, markets and more. There’s also the renowned San Telmo neighbourhood, home to the city’s oldest antiques market as well as popular coffee spots and colonial architecture.

Hamilton Island, Whitsundays

Danielle Eades: Travel Manager

A bucket list destination for many, in 2019 Danielle hopes to get to Australia’s picturesque Whitsundays. Located on the Great Barrier Reef and one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Whitsundays is a 74-island archipelago off the Queensland coast. Unlike anywhere else in the world, the far-flung destination promises endless natural beauty with its colourful wildlife, turquoise sea and white-sand beaches. The largest of the Whitsundays, Hamilton Island, is the perfect base for exploring. Stay at qualia, a luxurious resort at the island’s northernmost tip, and fill your days with beach trips, snorkelling, catamaran tours and bush walks.

Istanbul, Turkey

Sarah Weston: Director of Travel

Stretching across the Bosphorus Strait, Istanbul is the only city in the world that straddles two continents. The meeting point of Europe and Asia, the city is a melting pot of Asian, Middle Eastern and European influences, effortlessly waltzing between the old, new, exotic and familiar. Easily holding its own as one of the world’s most captivating cities alongside the likes of London, Paris, Dubai and New York, the bustling metropolis is famed for its architectural triumphs, delicious cuisine, vibrant nightlife and shopping spots. Must-visits include the Blue Mosque, an Ottoman mosque named after the 20,000+ handmade tiles that adorn the interior; the Grand Bazaar (one of the oldest traditional bazaars in the world), a labyrinth of shops selling everything from leather goods and ceramics, to food and jewelry; and of course an evening at one of the venues overlooking the Bosphorus.
